Description
Flat K-tip hair extensions (also known as flat hair extensions or keratin hair extensions) are a semi-permanent hair extension method. They involve pre-adhering individual hair strands to a flat keratin layer. Unlike traditional round adhesive K-tip extensions, flat K-tip extensions are designed to fit snugly against the scalp, creating a more natural and comfortable effect.
Key Features and Benefits:
- Flat bond shape: The keratin tip is pre-bonded in a flat design, which allows it to sit closer and smoother against the scalp compared to round tips.
- Discreet & natural look: The flat bond lies flush, making it less visible and more comfortable.
- Durable hold: Lasts 3–5 months with proper care since keratin bonds are strong and resistant.
- 360° movement: Since they’re installed strand by strand, hair moves naturally without bulkiness.
- Heat fusion application: Uses a hot fusion tool to melt the keratin and attach securely to the hair.

- Application: A stylist uses a specialized heat tool (or sometimes an ultrasonic cold fusion tool) to melt a small keratin bond at the tip of the extension strand. The melted keratin is molded around a small section of your natural hair, near the root, creating a secure, flexible bond as it cools.
- Strand-by-Strand: They are applied in small, individual bundles rather than as long strips or wefts. This method allows for a 360-degree range of motion, meaning the hair moves naturally and stays hidden even in updos or high ponytails.
- Longevity: K-tips typically last 3 to 6 months. Unlike other methods, they do not require “move-up” appointments every few weeks; instead, they stay in place until they need to be professionally removed as your natural hair grows out.
